TESTIMONIALS

WHAT OUR ATHLETES SAY

"My training experience with KJ has been top notch. We have worked on a lot of different finishes at the rim along with floaters, pull ups, and shooting mechanics. He has given me tools and work that has led to an all around improvement in my game."

DaQuan Bracey

Overseas Pro

“KJ has been an intricate part of my player development. He was able to breakdown my game film and show me the pieces that I was missing in my skillset. He also helped me become more comfortable as a three way scorer and tailored to my specific needs as a player.”

Grayson Bright

Overseas Pro

“From the moment KJ joined our program at Illinois State University it was very clear his love for the game and passion for player development was unparalleled. It never mattered what time of day or night, he was always ready to work with me and my teammates on our craft. His attention to detail and willingness to spend countless hours mastering the game is what I believe will always set him apart!”

Nick Zeisloft

Former Overseas Pro and NBA G-League Player

“I learned a lot from Coach Conklin. Spending a year training with him has really helped develop my game. What separated him for me is how passionate he was in teaching the micro skills needed to excel as a basketball player, the attention to detail in film sessions and ultimately his deep knowledge on various aspects of life, not just basketball.”

Jordan Tchuente

Brock University

"KJ is a first class man above all, but creative and innovative with the way he approaches workouts. He is always challenging and finding ways to tweak players and get them out of their comfort zones in order to get them feeling confident in their abilities."

Derric Jean

Aurora Vitre

"Coach KJ was always there for me and he helped push my game to a new level in all ways. His development plan helped me accomplish the goals I had set for myself."

Lucas Kroft

Western Carolina

"Coach KJ is the best skill development coach I’ve ever been around. He has been around the best of the best. I was very lucky to have him for a year. He developed my game a lot and taught me so many new details that I’ll use for the rest of my career. He’s also a great person and I am blessed to have him in my life."

Jordan Clark

Georgia Southwestern

"Coach Conklin helped me with my game in many areas that I struggled with, specifically with shooting and ball handling. Along with that he helped me with my confidence as a player and the big improvement in my statistics and our team showed that. One strength of coach is that he creates strong relationships with players by always asking how things are in their lives and checking in on them. I have no question that Coach Conklin can help any player that he works with because he is always willing to learn and adapt when obstacles are in the way and I feel players can trust him because he is a trustworthy person."

CE Talton

Truman State

"Coach KJ and I had a great relationship. He knows what it takes to make the game of basketball easier to play and he shows that with his skill development approach. He knows how to develop great relationships with players. I can see Coach KJ helping any player that he works with because he knows the little things and approaches that will help you become a successful player and impact winning."

Ian Hardy

“Kj is a guy who is passionate about serving others and helping players reach new heights in their game. During my time at Tech, KJ helped sharpen my skillset by putting in extra work in the gym with me. I was able to gain more confidence and apply the things we worked on into games. I enjoyed breaking bread and conversations we had beyond basketball.”

Anthony Duruji

MEET THE FOUNDER

KJ CONKLIN

My path to basketball training started in my senior year of high school. A mentor and former coach of mine called me and asked to train his daughter. This began an obsession and passion to research the best ways to help athletes succeed on and off the court.

After learning and cultivating my abilities as a trainer and coach I became a part of the Illinois State basketball program. My four years in Normal around high-level players and coaches were full of lessons on how to better serve athletes. After my time at Illinois State, I became a high school coach and trainer for one year before departing for Ruston, Louisiana, and becoming a Graduate Assistant for Louisiana Tech Men’s Basketball. Being a Graduate Assistant put me at the forefront of player development and being on the court with players. In that role player development became a day-to-day focus and opportunity for growth.

Helping our players grow through science-based training and researching the best methods became my primary focus. Seeing their growth after the work that they and we had put in was gratifying and ignited a passion in me to serve more athletes in the same capacity. Since Louisiana Tech I have spent the last two seasons as a junior college coach and have continued to work daily to perfect my craft as a player development coach.

Through my time of watching films, interning around other great trainers and players, and running my own workouts the value I can provide athletes has grown. The way that value has increased the most, however, is the methods and teaching I have adopted from researching the science of learning, psychology, and communication. These are all profound principles that many coaches and trainers abandon.

My years of experience in not only learning these principles but also practicing them has allowed me to use a unique science-based training approach to serve athletes ranging from youth level to NBA players. I am confident that no matter the level and age of the player I can help his or her game grow at an accelerated pace.
